This is without a doubt a real hidden gem when in Rome , it caught us by surprise , the dishes were wonderful , the menu limited but everything was executed to perfection
Barred is a bistro that truly stands out in the bustling food scene of Rome, especially for those with a love for wine. Their selection is impressively wide, offering something for every palate, from the novice to the connoisseur. We indulged in a few of their starters, and each was a delightful surprise of flavors and textures. The standout, though, was the tartar on hash brown—an innovative twist that perfectly married the richness of the tartar with the crispy, comforting hash brown. The cuisine here is creative and bold, pushing the boundaries of traditional dishes to create something truly unique. Coupled with the cozy, inviting atmosphere, Barred is a must-visit for anyone looking to explore the innovative side of Rome's culinary offerings.
What a jewel of place. Using locally sourced ingredients in modern combinations produces truly delicious, maybe even daring, dishes that satisfy and delight. Paired with any number of interesting wines (we had a bottle of an bio-orange wine produced close to Rome and we finished with a good Sidra cider from Spain), you will be delighted if you are looking for something beyond the traditional pasta fare found in most restaurants.
22/5/22 Great experience. We had the tasting menu which was recommended to us. Our waitress was really nice, she was able to give us good advice about the wine. The main course was the weakest because of the over-salted potatoes.
Portate scelte dalla cucina was a great experience. Love a little salt on my pork chop - anchovies made it delicious perfect. Very happy I trusted the kitchen with my pallet.
This is an amazing spot! If you love quality beer, natural wine and delicious food, you must visit Barred. The service was also excellent, very informative and friendly, even to us English speakers. The lemon linguine was out of this world. The lentils and lamb were also really good. They have a huge wine and beer list, you can also purchase red, white, orange and sparkling wines by the glass from 5-8 euro. We loved this place!
We ordered the tasting menu of five dishes, and every single one was amazing. We had the pork belly, followed by the tortellini with soy and lemon sauce (Amazing) then I had the tubelli and my partner had the spaghetti (both fantastic) then the pork neck, followed by lemon tart and chocolate cake. Hands down the best meal I’ve had in Italy. Incredible wine and craft beer selection too. Great service too!
